Born Eleanor Marie Robertson in 1950, Nora Roberts is an American author of more than 200 romance novels. She also writes the romantic suspense series In Death under the pen name J.D. Robb. She has also published books under the pseudonyms Jill March and for publications in the U.K. as Sarah Hardesty.

Before becoming a writer, she worked briefly as a legal secretary. She began to write during a blizzard in February 1979 while housebound with her two small boys and published her first novel, Irish Thoroughbred, in 1981. Since then, Nora Roberts never stopped writing and became the first author to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. Through the years, Nora Roberts has been awarded the Golden Medallion Award, RITA Award, and Quill award — each of them multiple times.
