Who is Kazuo Ishiguro?

British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954 and moved to Britain in 1960 at the age of five. One of the most celebrated contemporary fiction authors in English, he published his first novel, A Pale View of Hills, in 1982.

Since then, he has received four Man Booker Prize nominations and won the award in 1989 for his novel The Remains of the Day. In 2017, the Swedish Academy awarded Ishiguro the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Who is Ellen Hopkins?

American writer and poet Ellen Louise Hopkins began her writing career in 1990, first wirth nonfiction books for children (not listed below) before becoming a young adult fiction writer.

She has written a number of books in verse, about teenage struggles such as drug addiction, mental illness, and prostitution. She exploded onto the New York Times’ bestseller list in 2004 with Crank, a novel written in free verse that was inspired by her daughter’s addiction to crystal meth.

Who is Clive Cussler?

Bestseller author and underwater explorer, Clive Eric Cussler (July 15, 1931 – February 24, 2020) began writing in 1965 and found success with his most famous creation, marine engineer, government agent and adventurer Dirk Pitt.

Cussler was also the founder and chairman of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which has discovered more than 60 shipwreck sites and numerous other notable underwater wrecks. Aside from the Dirk Pitt series, he wrote other successful series like the NUMA Files, the Oregon Files, the Isaac Bell Adventures, or Sam and Remi Fargo adventures.

Who is Elin Hilderbrand?

Elin Hilderbrand is an American writer mostly of romance novels, and sometimes called the Queen of “beach novels.” Her books are generally set on and around Nantucket Island where she lives with her husband and their three childen.

Before becoming a full time writer, Elin Hilderbrand spend spent her summers on Cape Cod, until her father died in a plane crash when she was sixteen. After that, the worked the next summer in a factory that made Halloween costumes before moving to Nantucket in 1993 and taking a job at a local paper. She later started writing and her first book was published in 2000.

Who is Agatha Christie?

Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, Lady Mallowan, is a british writer, one who doesn’t really needs an introduction. She is, after all, according to The Guinness World Records, the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies. And she wrote numerous books, some with Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, other mystery novels and stories under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott.

And yet, success didn’t arrive immediatly for Agatha Christie, with six consecutive rejections until this changed in 1920 when The Mysterious Affair at Styles, featuring detective Hercule Poirot, was published. The rest, as we say, is history, making her the “Duchess of Death”, the “Mistress of Mystery”, and the “Queen of Crime”.
