Kate Daniels Books in Order: How to read Ilona Andrews’s series?

Created by writer Ilona Andrews, Kate Daniels is the main protagonist of an urban fantasy series set in a slightly futuristic Atlanta, where magic and tech periods follow one another. In this world where magical creatures are present, Kate Daniels is a human with magical abilities, a mercenary who fights monsters and cleans up magical problems.

Kate can be presented as an upbeat person with a ruthless side. She loves a good fight and possesses the skills that go with it. She knows how to use a blade, and is very dangerous in hand-to-hand combat. She’s also known for her sarcastic humor and for being very protective of her friends.

How to read the Kate Daniels Series in Order?

Every novel in the Kate Daniels book series mostly works as a standalone story, but the lives of the different characters evolve from one book to the other.

1. A Questionable Client – A prequel story published in Small Magics. Kate takes on the task of serving as Saiman’s bodyguard to protect him from some very determined-and dangerous-Russian wizards.
2. Magic Bites – Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way our of her league-but she wouldn’t want it any other way…
